Default Surplus stores?

Anyone else like a good old fashioned military surplus store?
When I was a kid, we called the Army/Navy stores, but you know what I mean, it smells like old canvas when you walk in. I'm not talking about the newer "tactical gear boutiques" that are so prevalent now, but a place where you might have to dig a little to find what you're after.
I have one I visit about every six months. They have a "first aid buffet", as I call it, where one can build a pretty good personalized kit for a reasonable price. They also carry the usual items like duffel bags, BDU's, assorted straps, paracord, ammo cans, etc
If any of our Arizona brethren are interested, I'll post the name and address.

I have the best of both worlds. My favorite local gun shop is also a milsurp store and carries military curio rifles as well. always a good stock of enfields, Swiss K31's, Moisons, Argentine mausers, sometimes a 1903 springfield, or a garand, Jap Arisakas, Sometimes a German 8mm as well as the more modern Sport Utility rifles and carbines. I love that shop and go there nearly every week. The owner is a pretty decent guy, has lots of regulars where everyone knows your name.

We've got a couple around here. There's a HUGE one in SF near Pier 39. Kinda cool.

I love milsurp stores! I have a GI hat that belonged to my grandpa from 1945 or something. I LOVE the hat. Wore it for a while but then I thought I lost it. Found it a year later and put it in storage. I''m looking to buy a new old one

I really want to get into C&R rifles - the Arisaka is definitely on my list.

Sadly all the ones around here are entirely too proud of their inventory. Used to be the place to go for deals. Not so much anymore...

We have a bunch of them here and I love going into them, I really like picking up my off the grid equipment at these places.

Plus I can get my BDU's there. and I love them for beating around the backwoods, and just plain hanging out.

These are the types of place's we need to keep open and keep them going as they are a great place to keep history alive and get us some good stuff.

Yeah the ones here have more comercial crap than real surplus and the surplus stuff cost too much, like 20-25 bucks for a used mil-surp poncho liner...

I remember when cheaperthandirt.com was like this. Then they got outrageous.

Still, very important to support your near by surplus stores!

That's funny. I get a lot of my gear from them. They are much cheaper on a lot of gear compared to places around here, especially packs and such. I get cammies from the flea market.
