Default M1 Garand Serial number history

I know at one point you could look up the serial number of your M1 Garand. Does anyone know where to do that? Here's the info:

US Rifle
Cal .30 M1
Springfield Armory
1683365

On the bolt:
D28287-12SA
S-B10*

*= diamond shape
