Default WeaponsCache.com Gun Rack

Ok Matt, here it is per your request. Keep in mind that im not an artist, just a part time woodworker. The letters are 3/4" high and 3/16" thick, they are 3D and stained dark so it stands out. They are not attached yet, just laying on there. Im going to withhold my opinion and let you decide. Just give me the word, stay or go. what does everyone else think?

It was the only font that I could find in 3/4" wood letters on short notice. I tried stencils, but it looked even worse.

I would say freehand it rather than that. I agree with Patrick. Blank would be better... What about something like GI stencils? Like you see on ammo cans? The block kind you can spray paint. Make it look industrial. That would be sweet...

I think it looks kinda cool in a funky way but I don't think it's fitting, unfortunately. I have a list of fonts which could be printed, cut out, and painted.

I think having an ammo crate look would be cool but I don't know if you're up for the extra work/time.

here's a link:
Free Font Download - WW2 Blackltr font | UrbanFonts.com

http://www.sostars.com/ww2-blackletter-troops-font/

Free Army Font Download at FontRiver.com

http://www.fontspace.com/category/Soviet

Soviet Font | dafont.com

I've downloaded these fonts and scanned them. No viruses found. Still, scan them before you tinker.

I think a stencil would be cool but at this point we have to figure out what would be best. Leaving it blank will make it simple, clean, and nice looking. That's the fastest and safest route and option a).

Option b). is to put our name on it so that we get our name out there.

The more I think about it the more I think we should leave it blank. Rick, could you just put a little sticker on there with the site name? Just put it next to yours if that's ok. I think leaving it blank will keep it looking nice. The big question is " Would I want to look at that every time I open my safe?" Virgin wood always looks best

Verdict: Leave it natural looking

Thanks Rick!

I really don't mind the look of the font on the first pic :P Maybe it's just me.

In the future, I'd like to mess with stencils. If we could nail the ammo crate look it'd be golden.

Yeah an OD one with rough stencil yellow letters would look really cool if I do say so myself...

Just leave the regular wood tone and spray dark stencil on. It'd look great.

I agree with the stencils. I tried larger stencils on a piece of stained wood, but since its a oil based stain/sealer, it takes a longer time to dry than water based stain. When I tried the stencil on the test piece, the stain wasn't completely dry and it didnt take too well. I think it would work fine if it had a day or two for the oily feeling to dry. I'll ship this one with the WeaponsCache.com label on the back in place of the ManAboutRacks.com label. When I get caught up on the other orders, I'll experiment a bit with it.
