LOL, Your's would be a very BAD house to break into I take it.

I went with shotgun also, preferably an 870 w/flashlight with strobe (very disorienting). Even with fewer rounds, you hit somebody with a shotgun slug or 00 buck and they are going down. And you still have to aim/point the shotgun at somebody. Even 00 Buck really doesn't open up in the short distances encountered in most peoples homes.

Generally I would just stay put in my bedroom while on the phone with the cops and if anybody tried opening my door they would be blasted. But since my kids bedrooms are on the other side of my house I have to clear it. I practice as much as possible and try to glean every little bit of info on the internet about house clearing that I can.

Gutter rat I agree but only if it were 50 years ago. In the political climate of the government now it would be a speed pass to the grey bar hotel unless you had 20 gang bangers breaking in. I would use my 1911 that has a laser site on it, but for someone who isn't a shooter I'd go with the shot gun with #6 to keep the pellets from going through the walls and possably hitting an unintended target. I would get an 12 guage AOW 14" slam fire though.

I think a 1911 would come in handy if you emptied your 2 C-DRUMS and still have need for a coup de gras. Fortunately I have a Mac 10 for if I am in a situation which calls for a coup de gras. A 30rd mag dump should do the trick...

Mossberg has the JIC, going to be added to my meager collection pretty soon. Either that or use the 90 rnd drum I just got for my AR's!!

Depends on what you live in (apt, house in city, rural farm house?) How many family members in different parts of said type house/apt? It's just me and the wife & dog in somewhat rural house 1st 1911, 2nd 870 shotgun/AR-15. I think it would have to be a home invasion type to break out the AR-15 so some scumbag lawyer wouldn't eat me alive in court, even if justified with AR=EBR. Then again I have a '92 Puma in .45Colt (what else) that should be PC in a court room.
Best bet:
1) 4 footed burglar alarm=dog
2) cell phone=911
3) whatever you have on hand=gun

Just my $0.02 worth.
